Intro
You can make good use of most of your spells except darkness wave and minus strike (those will work, but they require a specific build which I didn't cover here). Just make sure to put as many stat points as possible into the magic tree, while also maxing shadow veil and nightfall. You also need one level of Chaos from the physical tree.
The rotation for spells is roughly: Chaos (this sets up the chaos debuff for massacre later) dark bolt (this sets up scourge for your dark bolts later) Dark nebula shadow veil (this increases your spell's damage SIGNIFICANTLY) curse spike (This spell deals A LOT of damage while under the effect of shadow veil) dark bolt/blackout spam until veil is almost up massacre (This triggers two dark surges. One from Chaos, and one from shadow veil) Dark nebula Repeat
This is for optimal damage in long fights. In short fights, you can just spam dark bolt or blackout.
