Crusaders, Paladins, Royal Guard, and Imperial Guards are jobs focused on tanking damage, ranged or melee physical DPS, and Holy magic. Upon reaching fourth job, and gaining access to Attack Stance and Shield Stance, all of their builds become very flexible, and can either double down on damage or defense (not both at the same time). The stances allow the user to freely swap between extremely high damage, or extremely high defense, at the cost of the opposite. The exception is Shield skills, as they scale off of the player's DEF and MDEF, and by using attack stance, you lose your DEF and MDEF, making shield skills only deal 1 damage. So while using a shield build, you need to use Shield Stance.

They're mainly a defensive class who can ride a Peco Peco or Gryphon, and use a shield and one-handed weapon. They are capable of using two-handed weapons, but they lose out on a lot of their kit by doing so.

Crusaders could be categorized as one of 4 main playstyles:
